Cambodia Trade with US and ASEAN Up from 2020

PHNOM PENH: Trade valuations between Cambodia and the United States and Cambodia and ASEAN countries have both seen a rise in the first ten months of 2021 compared to the same period last year.

Between Cambodia and the United states, bilateral trade was valued around US $6.35 billion in the first ten months of this year, a 40% rise from the same period in 2020.

The Ministry of Commerce reports that between January and October 2021, Cambodia exported around US $6.08 billion worth of goods to the United States. Most of the products Cambodia exported to the US were textiles, footwear, travel goods and agricultural products.

The Ministry also states that Cambodia’s imports from the US in the same period were recorded at US $278 million dollars, a 42% increase from 2020. The products imported from the US mainly include vehicles, animal feed and machinery.

Regarding, bilateral trade between Cambodia and ASEAN, the first ten months of 2021 saw about US $11.3 billion worth of trade between the two, which was a 22% increase from the same period in 2020.

The Ministry of Commerce reports that between January and October, Cambodia exported US $960 million worth of goods to ASEAN countries, a decrease of 73% from last year, while imports to the Kingdom rose 79% to around US $10.4 billion.

Cambodia mostly exports agricultural products, such as rice, cassava, rubber and corn, imported construction materials, food and beverages and consumer goods to ASEAN countries.
